David Stick dedicated over six decades of his life to collecting, researching, and writing about the Outer Banks. He wrote or edited eleven books on North Carolina history, including The Outer Banks of North Carolina, 1584-1958 (1958), and Roanoke Island: The Beginnings of English America (1983).
